Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Boop ("the App") handles your information. Your privacy is a priority, and the App is designed to keep your financial records on your device and in your own iCloud account. We do not operate servers, and we do not receive your financial records. The App shows ads from Google AdMob, which is described in section 6.

1. Data Collection

Personal Data: The App does not require a user account. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any personally identifiable information.

Financial Data: All transactions, budgets, savings goals, debts, wallets, and other financial data you enter are stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If iCloud is turned on for the App, this data is also synced to the private database in your own iCloud account, so it can appear on your other devices. We cannot access your iCloud data, and your financial data is never sent to our servers (we have none) or to advertisers.

Bank alerts and Apple Pay: If you set up the optional Shortcuts automations, the text of a bank SMS alert or the amount, merchant and card of an Apple Pay payment is passed to the App on your device so it can log the transaction. The App never asks for bank logins or connects to your bank.

2. On-Device AI (Apple Intelligence)

The App uses Apple's Foundation Models framework to provide personalized financial tips and assessments. All AI processing runs entirely on-device through Apple Intelligence. Your financial data is analyzed locally and is never sent to Apple, our servers, or any third party. AI features require a device with Apple Intelligence enabled.

3. In-App Purchases

The App is free to download. It offers optional one-time in-app purchases, such as Remove Ads, tips, and header themes; there are no subscriptions. Purchases are processed by Apple, which collects payment information and transaction history according to its privacy policy. We do not have access to your credit card or billing details.

4. Notifications

The App uses local notifications for daily budget reminders and recurring transaction alerts. These notifications are scheduled entirely on your device and do not involve any external push notification servers.

5. Data Export

The App allows you to export your financial data as a backup. This file is generated locally on your device and shared only through the system share sheet at your discretion. We never receive a copy of your exported data.

Google Drive backup (optional): If you turn on Back up to Google Drive, the App saves a copy of your Boop backup file to a private app folder in your own Google Drive. The file goes directly from your device to Google, and we never receive or see it. The App asks only for the drive.appdata permission, which lets it see the files it created in that folder and nothing else in your Drive. Sign-in tokens are stored only on your device. You can disconnect in the App at any time, remove the App's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions, and delete the App's backups in Google Drive under Settings › Manage apps › Boop › Delete hidden app data.

Boop's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services which may collect data according to their own policies:

• Apple App Store: For payment processing.
• App Store Connect Analytics: For anonymized crash reports and app usage statistics to help us improve the App.
• Google AdMob: To show ads in the App. AdMob may collect information such as your device's advertising identifier, IP address, and ad interactions, as described in Google's policy. Where required (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), the App asks for your consent through Google's consent form, and it uses your advertising identifier for personalized ads only if you allow tracking in Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. Ads are removed if you buy Remove Ads or the header theme bundle, or leave a tip. AdMob never receives your financial records.
• Google Drive (optional): Only if you turn on Back up to Google Drive, your backup file is stored in your own Google account, as described in section 5. We have no access to it.
• Exchange-rate and market-price services: To show live currency rates and investment prices, the App requests public rates from third-party services. These requests contain currency or ticker codes, not your financial records.

Apart from Google AdMob, the App does not include third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. Changes are effective immediately upon being posted.
