Privacy Policy
Last Updated: September 8, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how CoFasting 16:8 ("the App") handles your information. The App is built to work without an account of any kind. Your fasting history and food notes stay on your device and in your own iCloud, and we do not operate a server that stores them.
1. No Account, No Sign-Up
The App does not require or offer a user account. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, passwords, or any personally identifiable information. There is nothing to register, and no credential for us to hold or lose.
The display name you optionally enter is stored on your device and is shared only with a fasting partner you deliberately invite, as described in section 3.
2. Data Stored on Your Device
Your fasting sessions, food log entries, chosen schedule and preferences are stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you have iCloud enabled, this data also syncs to your own private iCloud database so it is available on your other devices. That database belongs to your Apple Account. We cannot read it, and it is governed by Apple's privacy protections.
3. Partner Co-Fasting (CloudKit Sharing)
Fasting with a partner uses Apple's CloudKit Sharing. When you send an invite, the App creates a small shared record in your own iCloud and gives you a link to send by iMessage, AirDrop or any other means you choose. There is no account or email exchange, and the invitation never passes through a server of ours.
Only your fasting presence is shared with a linked partner: your display name, whether a fast is currently running, its start and planned end time, and a timestamp. Your food log is never shared. Either side can unlink at any time, which stops the sharing immediately.
4. Apple Intelligence & Foundation Models
Optional food logging uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models to turn a plain-language description of a meal into estimated calories and macros. This runs entirely on your iPhone. The text you type is not uploaded to us or to any third party. On devices without Apple Intelligence, the App falls back to a simple built-in estimate list, and the feature continues to work.
Nutrition values produced this way are estimates. You can edit any number before saving it.
5. Camera & Photo Library
You may optionally attach a photo of a meal while writing a food note. The photo is used only as a visual reminder while that sheet is open, is held in memory, and is not saved with the entry, uploaded, or transmitted anywhere. Photo selection uses Apple's PhotosPicker, which runs out-of-process, so the App only ever receives the specific image you tap and never gains access to your wider library.
6. Notifications & Alarms
With your permission, the App schedules local notifications for fasting checkpoints and for the end of a fast, and can set an alarm using Apple's AlarmKit so a fast ending is audible even in silent mode or a Focus. These are scheduled on your device by the App. They are not push notifications, no device token is collected, and no server of ours is involved. You can decline or later revoke these permissions and the timer continues to work normally.
7. Purchases
CoFasting Plus is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system using StoreKit. Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see or receive your payment details, card number, or billing address. The App stores only a local record of whether an entitlement is active so that it works offline.
8. Analytics & Third Parties
The App contains no third-party analytics, advertising, tracking or attribution SDKs. We do not profile you, and we do not sell or share data with data brokers. The App communicates only with Apple's own services (iCloud, CloudKit and the App Store) on your behalf.
Aggregate, anonymised crash and performance statistics may be provided to us by Apple if — and only if — you have opted in to share analytics with developers in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements. This is an Apple system feature and contains no identifying information.
9. Data Portability
You can export your complete fasting and food history to a standard CSV file at any time, from Settings inside the App. This is free in every version of the App and is not part of any paid tier. You can also import a CSV back in, which skips anything already in your log.
10. Children
The App is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
11. Your Rights & Data Deletion
You own your data. Delete individual fasts and food entries inside the App, or delete the App to remove its local data from that device. To remove synced data, delete the App's data for your Apple Account in Settings › Apple Account › iCloud › Manage Storage. Unlinking a partner stops sharing immediately for both sides. Because we operate no server holding your data, there is no separate deletion request to send us.
12. Not Medical Advice
The App is a timer and a tracking tool. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and the checkpoint labels it shows are time-based educational estimates, not measurements of your body. Speak with a qualified health professional before changing how you eat.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically. Changes are effective immediately upon being posted.
