Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how RunSplit ("the App") handles your information. Your privacy is a priority. The App is designed to keep your running data on your device and in your own Apple Health, and to never send it to our servers.

1. Data Collection

No Account Required: The App does not require a user account. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any personally identifiable information.

Location Data: The App uses Core Location (GPS) to record your route while you run. Location is sampled only during an active workout and is stored locally on your device. If you grant "Always Allow" permission, the App can continue recording during long runs when the screen is locked or the App is in the background. Location data is not transmitted to any external server controlled by us.

Music Library: The App's Music Mixer uses Apple's MediaPlayer framework to read your music library so it can switch playlists between WORK and REST phases. Only metadata needed to queue songs is read, playback happens through Apple's system music player, and nothing from your music library is ever uploaded.

Photo Library: For optional custom shoe photos the App uses PhotosPicker (PHPicker), which runs out-of-process and shows you Apple's native picker. The App only receives the specific image you tap, downscales it to a small JPEG, and stores that copy locally on your device. We never scan your library and never request broad photo library access.

Local Storage: Run templates, saved shoes, profile preferences, and coach settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to any external servers.

2. Apple Health Integration

With your permission, the App reads and writes the following data to Apple Health via HealthKit: workouts, workout routes (GPS samples), distance, active energy (calories), and heart rate. This is how your runs appear in the Fitness and Health apps. Health data stays entirely between your device and Apple's iCloud sync (if you have iCloud Health enabled) and is governed by Apple's privacy protections. We do not operate any server that can read your Health data, and the App never transmits your Health data to us or to any third party.

You can revoke Health access at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Health › RunSplit.

3. Apple Intelligence & Foundation Models

The App's Smart Coach voice lines are generated by Apple's Foundation Models framework, which runs entirely on-device through Apple Intelligence. Prompts, coaching context, and generated responses never leave your device. No information is sent to Apple, our servers, or any third party as part of this feature.

On devices that do not support Apple Intelligence (or when the user has it disabled), the Smart Coach automatically falls back to a bundled template-based coach that is fully offline.

4. Apple Music

If you enable the Music Mixer and grant media library access, the App queues songs from your own library through Apple's system music player. Selection and playback happen on your device. The App does not upload your listening history, library contents, or playback state anywhere. If you are an Apple Music subscriber, that service is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

5. Analytics & Tracking

The App does not run any analytics. There are no third-party analytics SDKs, no advertising frameworks, no attribution tools, and no cross-app tracking. The App does not use the App Tracking Transparency identifier (IDFA) and does not share any data with data brokers.

6. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

The App is free. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no paid tiers, and no advertising. We do not collect payment information of any kind.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. Because the App does not collect personal information from you in the first place, there is nothing for us to share.

8. Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Since no personal data is collected from any user, we are compliant with COPPA regulations.

9. Your Rights & Data Deletion

You own your data. To delete run history, templates, or shoes stored by the App, remove them from within the App or delete the App from your device. Workouts written to Apple Health can be removed from the Health app at any time. Because we do not operate any server that stores your data, there is no separate account deletion request for you to make to us.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. Changes are effective immediately upon being posted.
